What do we do?

Nurse Learning achieves its objectives by working in two distinct ways:

  1. we develop online learning sites which offer authoritative, free online courses for nurses and carers worldwide, and
  2. we work with other health and nursing organisations to help them to creatively use the Internet to fulfil their training and learning and needs.

Free, global learning sites

Nurse Learning launched its first learning site, CancerNursing.org, in the Spring of 2003. CancerNursing.org provides free, online courses for nurses and carers across the globe. Learners can access a growing number of courses on the site and can work flexibly through the various different types of learning resource within each course. They can undertake as much of each course as they see fit, and at whatever time, or from whichever place, that they access the Internet.

In its first year, CancerNursing.org enrolled nearly 10,000 learners from over 95 countries, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Over ten courses are currently being developed for the CancerNursing.org site, often written by nurses in many different countries. For example, an 'Endoscopy in Cancer Diagnosis and Management' course is currently being authored by a team based in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The success of the CancerNursing.org site has led to plans being developed to launch further learning sites in the following areas of nursing and care:

Supporting organisations
